Farm Attendant
Role: Manage and maintain the facilities including facility repairs. This position requires someone who can constantly adapt to change and improvements yet is structured with respect to task completion.
Capabilities and Expectations include but are not limited to:
o managing self, identifying tasks & priorities and operating safely without minute to minute supervision & direction
o being flexible yet focused, a self starter
o interacting, speaking and communicating confidently and accurately with colleagues
o observing, correcting and maintaining pet health, welfare and safety at all times
o ensuring a safe, clean, professionally organized and well-maintained site, grounds, equipment and facility
o performing and managing a wide variety of tasks ranging from maintenance and facilities oversight tasks (picking up supplies, stocking, kennel and fence repairs, grounds upkeep, assisting contractors when / where required, mowing, maintaining equipment, hauling, etc.) to pet care (occasional fill-in for farm animals) to other duties (taking pets to the veterinarian, running errands, etc.
o performing other duties as assigned
Facility
o Maintain the physical premises, including minor landscaping, keeping the ‘customer visuals’ in great shape, mowing and spraying /weed eating, painting the fence as required, etc.
o Maintain all equipment and tools used in maintaining the facility, e.g., mowers, tractors, trimmers, hand and power tools, etc. Provide basic maintenance for such equipment as washer / dryer, generator, etc. Establish and track equipment maintenance records.
o Collect and organize all tools & equipment. Establish an inventory and system for ensuring we know what we have and where it is / should be located
o Provide pond maintenance
o Provide building maintenance and know when / where to engage others for support; e.g. electrical, HVAC maintenance, tractor maintenance, etc.
o Ability to operate tractors and heavy equipment
o Receive and store package deliveries
Pet Care:
o Provide veterinary care transport if required
o Provide appropriate protocol for physical protection of all animals
o Elevate both human and pet emergencies.
Facility Care:
o Provide and ensure proper protocol for all aspects of facility care and operation
o Monitor 100+ acre property security of animals, assets and information.
o Ensure proper quarantine requirements are met.
o Provide summary excel information as required for pet movement,
Specific Skills & Competencies
o Ability to learn and/or operate tractors, attachments and other farm equipment
o Ability to send and receive text and e-mail information regarding canines and farm animals
o Ability to lightly train and reinforce canine behavior in a positive manner
