Job Title: Controls EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, testing, building, programming, and troubleshooting machine control systems. You will also be responsible for rebuilding and upgrading current equipment to reduce downtime and increase efficiency. Additionally, you will draw and interpret schematics, program PLCs, drives, and other devices, write programming for new machines, and troubleshoot issues or new systems from OEMs. Integrating touch screens for new systems will also be a key part of your responsibilities.Responsibilities
Design, test, build, program, and troubleshoot machine control systems.
Rebuild and upgrade current equipment to reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
Draw and interpret schematics.
Program PLCs, drives, and other devices.
Write programming for new machines.
Troubleshoot issues or new systems from OEMs.
Integrate touch screens for new systems.
Develop HMI screens.
Manage projects involving machine builders and new equipment.
Mentor and teach technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in programming PLCs.
Experience in HMI development.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD for design purposes.
Knowledge of Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, PowerFlex 70, 525, 753, and 755.
Ability to draw and interpret schematics.
Experience with SCADA systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.
Experience with HMIs (SCADA/AB).
A degree in a related field is a nice-to-have.
Work EnvironmentThis role requires hands-on work and interaction with operators, technicians, and supervisors on the floor to build trust and establish relationships. Our environment is tight-knit, and we are proud of our strong culture and history of taking great care of our employees, avoiding layoffs during challenging times like '08-'09. The position is based in a foundry setting where sparks are common, so wearing jeans and clothes that can get dirty is necessary. The new facility in Oakboro, NC offers numerous opportunities for project work, including moving the facility and equipment.
