INTERNAL POSTING-Only temporary or permanent NCDOT employees or layoff candidates with the NC Department of Transportation eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by GS 126 May Apply. This position is in Division 13, Mitchell County Maintenance Unit. The position will perform a variety of office assistant tasks in support of administrative, program, or technical operations. Functions include a diversity of records, reports, and filing activities, public contact, answering telephone, directing calls to appropriate person, and taking messages. Good communication skills are necessary. Position will process payroll, inventory, purchase orders, and accounts payable through SAP; personnel and other office duties such as typing correspondence, filing, and handling of incoming and outgoing mail. Must have knowledge and use of office equipment and related computer technology (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Ariba, and SAP). May be required work during non-traditional work hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and times of emergency.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesApplicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues.

Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel.

Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports.

Experience interpreting and/or explaining policies, procedures, and laws.

Experience in record keeping.

Additional Expectations:Must have demonstrated ability to provide customer service to the general public, in person and by telephone. Must have demonstrated ability compiling, verifying, and completing documents. Must have demonstrated ability to identify problems and provide resolution.
