Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sorter at our recycling facility. As a Sorter, you will play a critical role in our daily operations, responsible for sorting and processing recyclable materials from a variety of sources. This is not an easy job, and we're looking for someone with a strong stomach and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
Sort and process recyclable materials, including paper, plastic, glass, and metal, from various sources (e.g. curbside collections, commercial sources)
Identify and remove contaminants from recyclable materials
Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
Meet production targets and maintain quality standards
Collaborate with other team members to achieve daily goals
Work Environment:
The recycling facility is an industrial setting with loud machinery, bright lights, and strong odors from the materials being processed.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, safety vest, and hard hat as well as steel toed 6 inch boots.
The work area can be hot, humid, and dirty, with frequent exposure to dust, dirt, and odors from the materials being processed.
You will be on your feet for long periods of time and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
Strong stomach and ability to work in an environment with strong odors
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a recycling facility or similar industrial environment
Knowledge of recycling processes and procedures
Certification in OSHA regulations and safety procedures
Must be able to pass the screening criteria.
