Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate
regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident,
trespass, sabotage and espionage.
Conduct foot or vehicle security patrols of perimeters, airfield
flight line, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas as
well as interior of storage areas, administrative areas and
other structures.
Use specialized operating requirements, equipment, and
procedures in order to safeguard military and civilian
employees, family members, contractors and the general public.
Prepare and format a wide variety of special reports and other
correspondence.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Must be willing to rotate shifts and overtime if required for
periods of emergency overtime.
Required to submit a minimum of once a year to a urinalysis
test, on an unannounced basis during duty hours.
Required to undergo, and pass, an annual physical and mental
examination.
Maintain proficiency, and qualify, in handgun use.
Successfully complete all required Security Guard training.
Must pass all background checks and meet the criteria of the
Lautenburg Amendment.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual
physical agility test.
Position is designated emergency essential.
Must be able to wear protective equipment, and be certified in
the use of aerosol irritants and baton
Must wear the Security Guard uniform.
Must obtain and remain certified for the Individual Reliability
Program (IRP).
Must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid
training.

includes working in a Federal, State, municipal, local or private
organization that involves the protection of property against such
hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or
maintaining order, protecting life. Such experience must have
provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques.
Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or
Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a
regular or intermittent basis. This definition of specialized
experience is typical of work performed at the next lower
grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the
required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet
the qualification requirement using experience alone no
substitution of education for experience is permitted.You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General
Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks

Registration.

Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
