DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Groundperson to join our teamEssential Functions:
Performs all work from the ground.
Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.
Working hours will extend into night and will exceed an eight hour day.
Clears work area around structures.
Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.
Will perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson relating to utility line work.
Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
May flag traffic and may be required to have training.
Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come a long, jack hammer and hand line etc.).
Works around hazardous equipment
Works near energized parts or equipment.
Will be exposed to traffic.
Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chain saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
Work nights, weekends and holidays for extended periods; may be required to perform duties as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.
Must have a valid Driver’s license.
Must pass a background check.
Minimum Qualifications:
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
Weather permitting, this is a minimum 40 hour work week.
Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.
Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
Must be able to traverse various terrains.
Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
Must be able to communicate with others.
Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.
Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 60 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.
Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
Must have transportation to and from the startup location.
Must pass a background and/or MVR check.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
