A flagger, also known as a traffic controller, directs traffic around construction sites, utility work zones, and other areas where traffic needs to be controlled.
Their responsibilities include:
Using signs, hand signals, and other devices to manage the flow of vehicles
Placing signs and cones to alert drivers to potential hazards, such as road work ahead or road closed
Informing motorists about detours or other relevant traffic-related information
Keeping workers aware of traffic conditions and ensuring their safety
Establishing eye contact with drivers and remaining clearly visible to traffic
Communicating with other flaggers and motorists, and recording license plates of cars that don't obey signs
Flaggers should be physically fit, have good communication skills, and be familiar with traffic laws.
