SHARED SERVICES MANAGERWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?The First Line of Defense (1LOD) Shared Services organization develops and maintains tools and resources to support Business Control Officers (BCOs) in carrying out their responsibilities in a consistent and coordinated manner. Shared Services teams serve BCO functions with reporting and analytics; assessment and standardization of risk and control practices; development of shared 1LOD risk and control procedures; and change management and socialization. Shared Services is heavily engaged in leading, managing and/or supporting regulatory and internal issue remediation. The Shared Services Manager supports the enablement, adoption and maturation of effective non-financial risk and control practices in CNB's 1LOD. This role supports the Shared Services Senior Manager with development and execution of strategies to meet regulatory and risk governance requirements while consistently delivering quality tools and resources. The Shared Services Manager works closely with BCOs and other 1LOD Controls stakeholders, including the Shared Services Reporting & Analytics and Engagement teams; Royal Bank of Canada (RBC); CNB's second line of defense (2LOD) and third line of defense (3LOD); business lines and functional/support units; practice and project managers; implementation leads; change owners and professionals; and leaders and other stakeholders to understand and help solve complex and time-sensitive challenges.WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Leads and coordinates the review and feedback cycle for non-financial risk management frameworks, policies, and standards and their impact on 1LOD stakeholders – including steps needed to ensure 1LOD adoption – while maintaining positive and productive working relationships with stakeholders across the organization and lines of defense.

Supports the 1LOD Controls Office’s target operating model, including the maturation of a 1LOD risk management lifecycle. Analyzes non-financial 1LOD risk and control practices and procedures against regulatory and governance requirements; identifies and documents gaps and potential solutions to close those gaps; recommends, facilitates, and/or executes the actions to close identified gaps in consultation with BCOs and other stakeholders; and partners with Shared Services technical writers on the design and documentation of procedures for 1LOD adherence to governance requirements.

Executes quality assurance protocols for Shared Services Transformation capabilities and outputs in alignment with requirements and expectations across lines of defense, such as the Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC) Quality Assurance (AQ) team, the Policy Governance Office (PGO), and Internal Audit.

Develops and maintains execution tools (e.g., style guides, playbooks, templates, and QA/QC and implementation checklists) with input from key partners and management.

Leads or supports special projects as assigned, which may include the analysis, development, implementation and/or maturation of 1LOD risk and control practices and programs.

May manage and develop Shared Services staff such as Analysts, Senior Analysts and Leads.

Analyzes, assesses, and/or monitors non-financial risk and control activities and their adoption and maturation in CNB’s 1LOD.

Executes on action plans in a fast-paced environment with overlapping, interdependent and critical regulatory and internal issue remediation projects.

Supports the Shared Services Senior Manager and BCOs in the management and fulfillment of risk and control program requirements.

Identifies and escalates challenges and associated solutions to the Shared Services Senior Manager.

Serves as an active and visible resource to BCOs, recommending and/or providing advisory and other services as appropriate.

Develops and provides risk and control practice subject matter expertise and guidance to BCO teams and other stakeholders.

Builds strong, collaborative relationships with delivery partners and fosters connections between lines of defense, businesses, functions, leaders, change enablement and adoption professionals, project managers, and other stakeholders to promote efficient and effective use of Shared Services capabilities and resources.

Partners with appropriate Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) colleagues and teams on 1LOD risk and control best practices, tools, and adoption and enablement protocols.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEEDMust-Have

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

7+ years of financial services experience or similar (e.g., consulting, other regulated industry).

5+ years experience working in a risk management, transformation, strategic execution, project/program management, regulatory remediation, consulting, or change management function in a management role.

3+ years of experience managing or supporting a portfolio of cross-enterprise programs/projects with significant regulatory components.

3+ years of experience managing people.

Skills and Knowledge

Financial services industry experience, particularly in risk management or control functions, strongly preferred.

Tools – Microsoft 365, analytics and/or project management tools; Archer GRC experience a plus.

Strategic and tactical program transformation and implementation experience.

Communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with a focus on engaging management and other stakeholders across horizontals and verticals.

Assessing and utilizing methodologies and aligning to audit and regulatory requirements or expectations.

Demonstrated record of agile thinking and the ability to effectively influence and communicate.

Demonstrated ability to think critically and facilitate change through collaborative effort. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Self-motivation, discipline, task focus, the ability to structure and present work and a proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines.

Solid problem solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research, and quantitative skills.

Writing and editing experience strongly preferred.

COMPENSATIONStarting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
