Job Summary:

Ballancrest Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Teacher for our Toddler Class. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of toddlers. The Lead Teacher will design and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities, manage classroom operations, and collaborate with families and staff to provide the highest quality care and education.

Key Responsibilities:

-Curriculum Development: Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters learning in areas such as language, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, and self-help abilities.

-Classroom Management: Create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment. Establish routines and structure to support children’s development and manage transitions smoothly.

- Child Assessment: Observe and assess the developmental progress of each child, documenting milestones and identifying areas for growth. Provide feedback to parents and adjust teaching strategies as needed.

-Parent Communication: Build strong, positive relationships with parents and guardians. Regularly communicate about their child’s progress, daily activities, and any concerns or achievements.

-Supervision & Training: Oversee and mentor assistant teachers and support staff in the classroom. Provide guidance, support, and feedback to ensure consistency and quality in the care and education provided.

-Health & Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper hygiene practices, emergency procedures, and supervision requirements.

-Professional Development: Stay informed about current best practices in early childhood education. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

-Classroom Supplies & Resources: Manage the inventory of classroom materials and supplies. Ensure that learning materials are available, in good condition, and conducive to the curriculum and activities planned.

-Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration to create a positive and supportive school environment. Contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and school events.

Qualifications:

-Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

-Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with toddlers in an early childhood education setting. Previous experience as a lead teacher or in a similar leadership role preferred.

-Certifications: NC Qualification Letter & CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

-Skills:

- Strong leadership and classroom management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to implement an age-appropriate curriculum.

- Understanding of child development and behavior management techniques.

- Patience, creativity, and a nurturing approach to working with toddlers.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to sit on the floor and interact with children at their level.

- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and perform various physical tasks related to child care.

Work Hours:

Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Compensation:

Hourly, based on education and experience.
