This position will help support and expand upon existing data analysis and quality improvement work within the Infection Prevention Department. The DAII should have a working knowledge of relational databases and some proficiency with SQL and data analysis programs (e.g. SAS, Access, STATA, etc.)Description of Job Responsibilities:· Performs community surveillance activities. Reviews medical records to determine community infections that meet case definitions. Forwards required reports to State Health Department. Coordinates submission of lab isolates/samples from hospital to the State Laboratory of Public Health.· Conducts active surveillance of defined diseases and conditions by NC State Health Department. Routinely submits information and case counts through the NC State syndromic surveillance (NCDETECT) system.· Participates in public health investigations among hospitalized populations. Serves as liaison between Hospitals and public health agencies for bioterrorism and new and emerging diseases. Assists with health care-associated infection outbreaks and investigations.· Works as liaison with public health departments to ensure implementation of appropriate control measures of diseases of public health concern.· Participates and initiates projects related to prevention of infections in hospital and community settings.Maintains current knowledge of trends and issues with outcomes measurement/management, healthcare informatic systems, infection control practice and theory.· Prepares statistical analysis and presentations regarding surveillance efforts.· Provide innovative analytical insights with large data sets.· Conduct detailed data analysis on surveillance data used across the hospital to evaluate and improve processes.· Respond to data and product related inquiries in real-time to support stakeholders.· Perform various data analytics in SQL, MS Excel, and other data tools, using statistical models or industry accepted tools.· Provide relational database expertise to construct and execute SQL queries to be used in data analysis activities.· Provide expertise and translate the business needs to design; and develop tools, techniques, and metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization.Other InformationOther information:Education Requirements:● Requires Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceLicensure/Certification Requirements:● None requiredProfessional Experience Requirements:● If Bachelors degree in general field, requires two (2) years of experience.● If Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (i.e. Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Analytics, etc.), then no years of experience is required.● If Master's degree, requires no years of experience.● If Associate's degree, requires eight (8) years of experience● If High School degree, requires ten (10) years of experienceKnowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:● NOVICE- Limited Proficiency: You have the level of experience gained in a classroom and/or experimental scenarios or as a trainee on-the-job. You are expected to need help when performing this skill.
