POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Mechanic/Installer to join the fast-growing STR Mechanical Team. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem- solving skills, as well as a high level of customer service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

HVAC Mechanic will install heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in new commercial construction and tenant offices

Complete paperwork daily, recording materials used on each job, in accurate manner.

Able to independently install new HVAC systems

Ability to wire up all basic HVAC low voltage wiring: furnace, a/c, thermostats, zone controls

Ability to fabricate duct fittings and lay out job without supervision

Ability to read blueprints and lay out duct

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local service manager or branch leader, and has a responsibility to all of our customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of experience in install mechanic

Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Visual acuity sufficient to read instructions, wiring diagrams, blueprints, to install and replace HVAC equipment and parts

Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment

Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed

Ability to frequently lift 75 pounds and ability to lift and regularly carry items weighing up to 50 pounds

Sufficient physical ability to work in awkward places and from ladders or scaffolding as required by projects

Physical ability to endure high and low outside temperatures

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental Requirements

Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
