Job Details

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for performing all aspects of Technical Customer Field SupportServices to achieve company objectives for the service of vacuum metallurgy and heat treat equipment tosupport customers in North America.

Responsibilities:Specific duties and responsibilities include:1. Provide on-site technical services to customers, services include the installation andcommissioning of products, warranty repair services, paid services and assistance to salesefforts as required.2. Aid and assist junior technical service engineer in the same efforts.3. Provide the training and transfer of knowledge of specific products and techniques to junior serviceengineers.4. Aid and assist commissioning engineers from Germany during on site activities.5. Aid and assist contractors and suppliers during on site activities and provide technical assistanceto same in design and manufacturing efforts as required.6. Maintain and update customer contacts, project status, potential project opportunities and customercomplaints in conjunction with the Customer Service Coordinator.7. Provide concise and timely reports of on-site service activities.8. Work with the spare parts organization by assisting in the identification of spare parts technicaldescriptions, supplier information and recommendations for on hand inventories.9. Provide senior management with up to date information regarding customer projects, marketobservations and opportunities for use in meeting corporate goals.10. Assume the responsibilities of project management as required by senior management.11. Performing other duties as assigned.12. Travel to various and customer locations as required to support management andinitiatives. Travel varies and may at times exceed 75%.13. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, franchisees, and others in a courteous andprofessional manner and conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, andinstructions.14. Safeguard property and other assets owned or leased. This includes properties,assets, financial data, trade secrets, trademarks, databases, business manuals and otherintellectual property. assets and resources as well as corporate opportunities are to be usedsolely to pursue and achieve company goals and not for personal benefit.

Major Challenges of this position are:1) Working with a wide variety of individuals at levels ranging from corporate presidents tomanufacturing technicians2) Maintaining an up-to-date working knowledge of newly developing technologies and manufacturingpractices in the vacuum metallurgy industry.3) Heavy travel, both domestically and international.Qualifications:1) Associates degree in engineering or a related field or technical degree or related military experienceand five years field service experience.2) Technical knowledge of the vacuum metallurgy industry and vacuum processing systems includingPrimary Melting, Re-melting, Precision Casting, Coating and Vacuum Heat TreatmentTechnologies.3) Ability to travel for long periods of time upon short notice, including internationally.4) Must maintain a current driver's license and passport and be able and willing to fly, drive and utilizemass transport to complete assigned tasks.5) Demonstrated proficiency with PLC controllers, ladder logic, PC based applications and functions.6) Excellent communication skills are required, both written and oral. Ability to sense and relateobservations and interactions to business opportunities.
