ThePrevention Specialistwill assist Prevention Program Supervisor with providing state of the art prevention strategies in multiple community settings to improve community well-being by reducing substance use in Wyoming County.CCSI is partnering withWyoming County Mental Health Departmentto hireaPrevention Specialist.This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf ofWyoming County. In this role, you willProvide program delivery and support:

Implement state of the art prevention practices including but not limited to evidence-based curricula to school districts.

Build coalition prevention capacity through participating in Partners for Prevention coalition meetings, leading work groups, and community networking.

Develop and coordinate student groups in the Wyoming County schools.

Participate in strategic planning activities.

Collect and provide data for evaluation of prevention practices and prevention program outcomes.

Assist with prevention needs assessment activities including but not limited to student/adult surveys, focus groups, and key informant interviews.

Provide technical assistance in substance use prevention.

Build expertise in area of substance use prevention through attending specified number of trainings for professional development.

Serve as a professional prevention resource to Wyoming County.

Provide current relevant trainings to community members and professional prevention peers.

Assist Prevention Program Supervisor with implementation of any grant action plans and deliverables that support Strategic Prevention Framework.Provide all required paperwork in timely manner to meet work plan and grant reporting deadlines.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsEducation and Experience

Bachelor’s preferred or Associate’s degree plus 3 years appropriate experience delivering educational curricula/programming, OR equivalent education and relevant work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart (https://www.ccsi.org/CCSI/media/pdfs/Equivalency-chart.pdf) ).

Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) is preferred. Ability to learn and apply prevention science with the goal of obtaining a CPP credential may be considered.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.

Valid NYS Class D Driver License and access to motor vehicle to meet transportation requirements of position

Support and promote basic core competencies locally, regionally, and nationally that “behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people do recover”, SAMHSA.
