Animal Care TechnicianJob DescriptionAs an Animal Care Technician, you will perform cleaning and maintenance duties, conduct monthly sanitation of equipment and facilities, and maintain accurate records of animals, supplies, and equipment. You will also provide basic care for research animals used in experimental purposes, including daily observations to check animal health and environment, reporting changes, and maintaining their living conditions.Responsibilities
Perform cleaning and maintenance duties.
Conduct monthly sanitation of equipment and facilities.
Maintain accurate records of animals, supplies, and equipment.
Perform basic care of research animals, including daily health observations and environment checks.
Report changes in environment and/or animals.
Change and clean cages, equipment, water bottles, and food.
Unpack and house animals upon arrival.
Perform husbandry and maintenance duties.
Essential Skills
Cleaning and sterilization.
Animal husbandry.
Experience working with mice.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent technical certificate.
A minimum of one year of experience in animal care is preferred.
Work EnvironmentThe position is within several vivariums on the campus, each with its own team. The candidate must be a good team player, follow basic SOPs, and learn lab safety. The role typically involves working with 10-12 others on a first shift opportunity, starting as early as 5 am. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays is required, as the position is deemed essential personnel. The campus offers onsite amenities such as a gym and cafeteria. Future expansion plans include a fully staffed daycare within the next five years.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
