The Wetland Trust, Inc. (TWT) is a 501 ©(3) not-for-profit organization headquartered in New York State dedicated to protecting, restoring, and enhancing wetlands that provide critical habitat for rare and unique reptiles and amphibians, plants, and other wildlife.
We are looking for two (2) seasonal Field Technicians to support TWT with wetland mitigation, habitat restoration, land management, and related projects. The work includes technical, biological, and related practices including data collection and entry, wetland delineations, vegetation planting, handheld equipment operation, and other support. Duties increase in difficulty and responsibility as the incumbent’s professional development increases. Field work is a requirement of the position. Work is performed under the limited supervision of a higher level official. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
Performs fieldwork activities and biological surveys related to wetland construction and maintenance
Provides technical assistance for TWT projects including support for evaluation, design, equipment/supplies needs and other logistics
Provides land management support including sign posting, brush cutting, and trail camera maintenance
Collects data and prepares maps, tables, charts and field notes
Communication with the general public and/or landowners

Required Qualifications:
Enrollment in or graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college working towards an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, civil engineering, environmental technology, geology, physical or natural science, agriculture or related field.
Ability to interpret maps, charts and graphs
Ability to use handheld GPS devices
Strong knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong vegetation and wildlife identification skills
Familiar with GIS
Experience conducting wetland delineations
Ability to use handheld power tools and equipment
