GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cleaning Technician is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards
across assigned client facilities. Duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting, emptying trash,
cleaning restrooms, disinfecting surfaces, spot cleaning walls and doors, and operating basic
cleaning equipment. The technician will also be required to handle and apply cleaning
chemicals safely and follow company and client-specific safety protocols. This position
requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as
part of a team to ensure all work areas meet company quality standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Sweep, mop, and dust all assigned areas.
Clean and disinfect restrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and floors.
Clean and sanitize break rooms and common areas.
Perform interior window and glass cleaning.
Utilize high-tech cleaning equipment and tools as required.
Handle and apply EPA-approved cleaning chemicals safely and correctly.
Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damage to the Supervisor immediately.
Follow detailed cleaning schedules and checklists.
Ensure all tasks are completed within the assigned timeframes.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the company on-site.
Perform other cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned.
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform spot cleaning of walls, doors, and door handles to maintain appearance and
sanitation.
Assist with setting up or breaking down rooms for meetings or events (e.g., rearranging
chairs and tables).
Help restock cleaning supplies and organize janitorial closets.
Assist in light equipment cleaning and minor maintenance (e.g., wiping down vacuums,
reporting broken equipment).
Respond to special cleaning requests from supervisors or clients.
Clean exterior entrance areas (e.g., sweep sidewalks, clean door glass).
Perform light touch-up cleaning outside of scheduled duties (e.g., quick wipe-downs if
needed).
Notify management of low inventory for cleaning products or restroom supplies.
Secure facilities after cleaning (lock doors, turn off lights if instructed).
Follow up on cleaning checklists and complete task logs.
Attend brief safety meetings or training refreshers as required.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
Experience:
Previous experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial work, or facility maintenance
preferred but not required.
Experience using cleaning equipment (e.g, vacuums, floor machines, carpet cleaners) is a
plus
Other:
Ability to read and understand basic instructions, safety procedures, and warning labels (in
English or the employee’s primary language with assistance if needed).
Ability to safely handle and use cleaning chemicals according to provided training.
Reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, clients, and coworkers.
Flexibility to adapt to different job sites and schedule changes as needed.
Willingness to follow all company policies, safety protocols, and client-specific rules.

Physical Skills: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking,
bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds regularly. Good hand-eye coordination to
operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Ability to work efficiently in different
environments, including offices, industrial sites, and commercial spaces. Ability to maintain
stamina for extended periods during shifts. Technical/Equipment Skills: Ability to safely
operate and maintain basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet
cleaners. Ability to properly use and handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety
procedures. Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow verbal and written
instructions in English (or the employee’s primary language with assistance). Ability to
communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, clients, and coworkers. Basic
Technology Skills: Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for work purposes, including:
Checking schedules Clocking in and out Receiving work updates and instructions through
company apps or communication platforms. Workplace Skills: Attention to detail to ensure
thorough cleaning and sanitization. Ability to work independently without direct
supervision. Strong time management and organizational skills to complete tasks within
assigned timeframes. Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing priorities or special
cleaning requests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift).
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds regularly.
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb short ladders or step stools as needed.
Must have the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as sweeping, mopping,
wiping surfaces, and handling cleaning equipment.
Must be able to use hands and arms for reaching, carrying, lifting, and operating cleaning
tools and equipment.
Must be able to work in environments that may require exposure to cleaning chemicals,
dust, and other typical janitorial conditions (proper PPE will be provided).
Must be able to move quickly and safely through different building areas, including tight
spaces, stairways, and sometimes outdoor areas
