Job Summary: Review, entry and coordination of all Department charges. Process charges via EPIC hospital billing system for all components of the Departments billing including facility fees, infusion, hydration, chemotherapy administration and other procedures. Review all billing for accuracy and completeness prior to and following entry into the billing system. This requires knowledge of CPT and verifying levels of complexity, appropriate diagnosis coding, accurate insurance information and proper authorization. Knowledge of changes in regulations and policies of all payors are necessary to ensure accuracy of billing. Responsible for the maintenance and management of the Hospitals CDM (Charge Description Masterfile) for the Department, which includes all procedure codes and corresponding charges. Ensure diagnosis codes or patient symptoms are entered correctly for all patients and ancillary tests ordered for the Department. Maintain and update LCD and NCD manuals for ancillary testing and medications as needed Educate department on diagnosis coding and billing. Act as patient liaison on matters concerning their hospital billing in order to maintain optimal customer satisfaction. Ensure volume of repeat procedures are noted for proper billing levels (e.g. multiple bone marrow biopsies). Coordinate patient conferences, general office work/coverage. Performs keyboarding functions and procedures accurate and grammatically correct reports, charts, memos, letters, forms etc. Assist team with other support related activities such as medical records, faxing, copying, retrieving charts, mail, delivery and retrieving materials, and provides telephone coverage. Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in Health Information Technology, minimum of 2 years relevant billing/coding experience (preferably in Oncology) or equivalent combination of education and experience, knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, CPT codes and ABN's plus excellent written/oral communication, analytical and computer skills including knowledge of ExcelPreferred Qualifications: RHIT preferred.Work Days: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pmMessage to Applicants: Recruitment Office: Human ResourcesExecutive Order:Pursuant to Executive Order 161, no State entity, as defined by the Executive Order, is permitted to ask, or mandate, in any form, that an applicant for employment provide his or her current compensation, or any prior compensation history, until such time as the applicant is extended a conditional offer of employment with compensation.
