Position Overview

The Chef de Cuisine (CDC) will oversee the daily culinary operations of Vern’s, working closely with the Executive Chef to uphold and elevate our standards. This hands-on leadership role requires a strong presence on the line, ownership of daily service execution, and the ability to inspire and manage a dynamic team. The CDC will lead by example, ensure consistency in food quality and preparation, and drive creativity through daily specials and seasonal menu development.

What you will do

Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and closing procedures

Lead and support the kitchen team during service, working a station as needed

Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development and execution of daily specials

Maintain food quality, consistency, presentation, and portion control

Create and manage SOP’s and training standards

Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation standards

Train, mentor, and manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional culture

Ensure proper inventory management, ordering, and cost control

Manage scheduling, labor tracking, and team accountability

Act as the lead resource for culinary staff

What we need from you

3+ years experience in a senior kitchen leadership role (Sous Chef or higher) in a high-volume, full-service restaurant

Strong line cooking skills and the ability to lead by example

Passion for Food and seasonal, ingredient-focused cooking

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Proven ability to manage and motivate teams under pressure

Solid understanding of kitchen financials including food cost and labor management

Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
