Position Title: Scientific Writer and Laboratory Manager

Location: New York University Langone Health, New York

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us:

The laboratory explores the stem cell biology of the skin, in the contexts of development, regeneration and inflammatory diseases, leveraging advanced mouse genetic models and human patient tissues. We work closely with clinicians and pharmaceutical companies to perform translational research. Our commitment lies in advancing our understanding of human skin biology and developing innovative treatments to help patients suffering from skin diseases.

We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for science and organizational excellence to join our team as a Scientific Writer and Lab Manager. This unique position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research while ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Writing (50%)

Draft, edit, and proofread scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, progress reports, and conference abstracts.

Collaborate with researchers to develop clear and compelling content for publications and presentations.

Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific literature to enhance the quality and relevance of written work.

Assist in preparing materials for funding applications, including figures, tables, and supplementary data.

Laboratory Management (50%)

Oversee day-to-day operations of the lab, including supply inventory, ordering, and equipment maintenance.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and institutional guidelines.

Manage laboratory budgets, expense tracking, and documentation.

Train and onboard new lab members in protocols, safety procedures, and equipment use.

Coordinate collaborations, schedules, and project timelines within the lab and with external partners.

Maintain and update lab website.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in biology field (e.g., Cell Biology, Genetics, Immunology)

o Prior experience in scientific writing, editing, or publications.

o Proven experience in laboratory management or research coordination.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in relevant software tools – Microsoft office, Benchling, CS Photoshop and Illustrator, BioRenders

Knowledge of laboratory techniques and equipment is highly desirable.
