Hello! We are a production company working on a thriller/romance about two young people leaving their old lives behind and starting fresh in the big city, squatting in the homes of their affluent dog-walking clients.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
collaborators who have experience squatting. We want to hear the real-life stories of people who have squatted, what brought them to it, and how it ultimately ended up so that we can imbue the film with a strong sense of reality.
If this sounds like you, please send us a few sentences about yourself, your background, and your experience squatting and its relevance to the film.
After reviewing your information, we will reach out for an initial conversation, which you will be paid for. After hearing your story, we may ask if you would like to be included in a filmed testimonial that will be used to help raise money for the project (also paid).
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
This story seeks to destigmatize the act of squatting by telling a humanizing story that illustrates the circumstances and rationale of people who end up staying in other people's homes.
This is a story about two people who can’t accept the reality into which they were born any longer. They strike out on their own, shirking off their old lives, and face the uncertainty of self-determination.
This is a story that calls attention to the economic struggles of displaced persons like our protagonists.
This is a story for our moment of division. Set within the cultural context of impossibly high housing costs, record homelessness, and intense political division, the film asks: what if we decided not to play by their rules?
Establishment vs. The New Generation: the callousness of greedy capitalist byproducts against the hopeful young idealists that don’t accept that this is the way things have to be.
