Hello! We are a busy Brooklyn salon in need of a Salon assistant who wants to learn and apply root touch ups.
Salon Assistant Job:
We are looking to hire an assistant with the goal of having some of your shifts be assisting stylists answering phones and texts from clients, and cleaning- With some of your shift being behind the chair as a root touch up colorist. You must be able to work both Saturday and Sunday, 10-7 one weekday 10-8 as well as one afternoon shift 1-9pm. Pay is $20/hour. You must be licensed in cosmetology.
As an assistant we will train you to do root touchups and shampoo and blowdries, so your work will be very hands on with the clients. Your role will include answering the occasional phone call or text clients back on our booking system. You will help book appointments, sweep, do general salon cleaning, clean color bowls, laundry, fold salon towels, and greet and help clients buy product and pay for their services.
We are a laid-back, talented team of ladies and non-binary folks with lovely clients and a Brooklyn-sized, beautiful space. Our salon is one floor up, off the street level so it is safe at night. We are a very fast paced salon, so there will be little down time during your 8-9 hour shift, you will get a lunch break within that time.
Duties and Responsibilities
Client Care and Stylist Support
Greeting clients and getting them a drink
Helping stylists manage their day if they run behind (texting their next client)
Checking clients out
Answering the phone and booking appointments (people usually stop calling around 2:30, but there are a few afternoon calls and text messages on our software.)
Salon Space Cleaning
Cleaning, sweeping, washing color bowls, changing laundry and folding towels.
At the end of each day you will be responsible for straightening the salon, and doing a thorough clean of the break room, the shampoo area, the bathroom and the salon floor and stations. This is a major part of your job, so if you don’t enjoy cleaning and straightening, this job may not be for you.
Qualifications
Physically able to move quickly and willing to be on your feet the whole shift
An interest in small business, or beauty industry
Must have a cell phone
Must be willing to learn a salon booking software.
Must be good with people
Have an interest in learning about hair product and sales.
Stylist Position:
We are also hiring for a part time, experienced stylist. We need someone to take overflow clients, as we are over booked and have a wait list. We do a lot of Blonding and straight, wavy and lots of curly hair.
