Vacancy caducado!
We are a 20+ yo neighborhood boutique bottle and wine shop that relocated a few blocks north of our old address about two years ago. After much building and curating of the space, program, and staff, we are seeing the store flourish and reveling in all the positive feedback from our cherished customers. And with growth comes the exciting opportunity to bring a new member onto the team.
We’re seeking to hire an hourly sales associate with a high interest in wine and spirits who has a moderate (beyond foundational) level of experience required. We welcome those with the desire to learn and hospitality professionals are preferred. The person hired will be required to become familiar with, over time, all products in the store, and provide wine pairing and cocktail suggestions for customers.
We believe that the symbiosis of the team is of the utmost importance. Most employees have another job and/or passion and everyone helps out with coverage when they can. If you’re looking for supplemental income in what we work hard to ensure is a positive, relaxed yet stimulating and thoughtful environment, we encourage you to apply.
Currently seeking part-time (20hrs) employees with the possibility of moving to full-time in the coming months.
We are a LGBTQ-friendly space; if this is problematic for you, do not apply.
Qualifications/Duties:
- Wine knowledge of a moderate level (WSET 2 or equivalent) with a high willingness to learn.
- Great customer service skills, not rattled easily.
- Able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Please detail availability in your application.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual and trustworthy.
- Attention to detail, clean, and organized.
- Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently.
- Fluent in English.
- Stocking and sense of urgency required.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs on a catwalk and not be afraid of heights.
- Comfortable lifting and carrying heavy boxes (30lbs) up and down stairs regularly.
- A chill but professional personality.
- Daytime duties include but are not limited to: packing boxes for shipping web orders, making local deliveries (hourly staff shares tips), answering phones, stocking shelves, making sure the store and sidewalks are clean and inviting.
- Most importantly, love of good wine, spirits, ciders, sakes, and a desire to share that love with customers and coworkers.
Please respond with your resume (as a word doc or pdf attachment) and, in the body of the email, why you're interested in working in wine retail. We’d also like to know the kinds of environments you thrive in, the kinds of people you jive with best, and if you believe in aliens. (Applications that do not address these questions will not be considered.)
Excellent work environment, discounts on products, flexible scheduling, invitations to industry events, constant in-store tastings, potential for subsidized wine education. The store is open from 12p-9p on Sunday-Monday, and from 11a-10p on Tuesday-Saturday. Holiday hours will be slightly longer for the months of November and December. Shifts are typically 8-11hrs long which means more full days off.
Store is located in Kips Bay/Murray Hill. Please do not call or stop by the store unannounced.
