STUDENT AFFAIRS COORDINATOR – CONSERVATORY

Atlantic Theater Company, an award winning non-profit Off-Broadway theater, seeks a Student Affairs Coordinator qualified to serve the Conservatory student population at the Atlantic Acting School. Reporting to the Director of Conservatory Training, the Student Affairs Coordinator is primarily responsible for the administrative and co-curricular needs of students in the Conservatory, Evening Conservatory, Spring Comprehensive and Vermont Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Communicate program-related information to students via in-person class visits and direct email messaging

Program co-curricular events to foster student engagement

Serve as primary point-person for student questions, concerns and grievances and for student-related questions or concerns from faculty

Manage all aspects of student evaluation process, including creating grade and narrative evaluation surveys, collecting data, distributing evaluative information to students, chairing mid-term faculty meeting and coordinating student/faculty advising sessions

Manage all aspects of soliciting student feedback, including creating and collecting course evaluations and regular reviews of student satisfaction, making recommendations for program improvement as needed

Refer students to appropriate support services (health services, mental health services, disability services) outside of the institution; maintain active list of reliable resources for students in these areas

Identify students who are not making adequate academic progress; design appropriate interventions in collaboration with Dir. of Conservatory Training

Supervise student affinity groups

Co-facilitate orientation, share days, and graduation events

Meet with students as needed; mediate student-to-student and student-to-faculty conflicts

Relay critical student-related information to relevant faculty

Manage attendance tracking system and notify students of attendance infractions

Maintain all student files, including contact sheets and email distribution lists and registration rosters

Manage record-keeping of student transcripts

Attend student productions

Work with faculty to create student groups each semester; cluster students into “buddies” to promote intergenerational relationship-building

Collaborate with admissions team to vet interested applicants, as needed, and to provide information to prospective and newly-enrolled students

Collaborate with operations staff to ensure student have building ID’s

Provide student support to registrants of Atlantic’s Spring Comprehensive program.

Provide student support to registrants of Atlantic’s Vermont Program; including partnering with admissions to audition applicants and track registration

Provide leadership and vision to ensure compliance in matters relating to student discipline, attendance, guidance services, and safety protocols

Maintain database of dramatic literature, liaising with faculty to ensure its relevance to their courses and instructing students on how to engage with it

QUALIFICATIONS:

Three 3+ years of experience in education, preferably higher education working in student affairs advising and/or program-planning

A background in theater or theater education

Significant experience in team building, cultivating relationships with students and working with others with a collaborative spirit with excellent diplomacy

Familiarity with with FERPA

Fluency in the Google and Microsoft Office suite and willingness to learn new software

A demonstrated history of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and anti-racists practices; ideally formal training in DEIA

Facility working in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly-motivated, organized and flexible

The ability to remain calm under stress and maintain a sense of humor

COMPENSATION:

$50,000 plus health benefits, paid vacation, and tickets to ATC productions.

This position is in-person as of July 1, 2024.
