Job Opportunity: Experienced Tailor/Seamstress
Location: Gramercy, Manhattan, NY 10003 Hours: 30-40 hours per week
Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour, with an option to partner on a 50-60% commission split
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and act on traditional tailoring marks and alterations tickets with precision.
Expertly press lapels, sleeve heads, waistbands, trouser creases, and full legs.
Utilize advanced pressing techniques suitable for various fabric weights.
Manage complex garment alterations with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Offer insightful advice on garment fitting, styling, and lead times to ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain a high standard of customer service and adhere to tailoring deadlines.
Requirements:
At least 3-5 years of professional tailoring experience.
Proficiency in operating tailoring equipment such as single-needle sewing machines, industrial blind stitch machines, and other relevant tools.
Excellent communication skills in English for effective teamwork.
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Ability to handle various fabrics and complex garments with a creative and positive approach.
Tech-savvy with a basic understanding of POS systems is a plus.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor.
Desirable Skills:
Expert knowledge of garment construction, fitting, and manufacturing techniques.
Ability to multitask and manage projects efficiently in a team setting.
Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate business needs.
Capability to press, steam, and spot clean garments as needed.
