Brooklyn Tails & Trails is seeking an experienced dog walker/handler to join our pack!
We’re looking for a confident dog walker that can read dog body language and has experience working with breeds of all ages and sizes. You must be comfortable using positive reinforcement and maintain control of multiple dogs (3 max) and love the outdoors (hot or cold)!
Our clients are our family and trust us in their homes with their most loved pets. You must be dependable, committed, and a strong communicator.
You must have availability: 11 am - 4:00 pm M - F. Hours fluctuate throughout the week with additional opportunities for work (weekends, holidays, overnight pet sits etc.). We are looking for a minimum 9–12-month commitment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Exercise and overall care for dogs includes walking, playing, petting, and crating.
- Punctuality is key, and ability to follow and complete your schedule in the time frame provided
- Always keeping safety of pets in mind; extra diligence required to keep a close eye on your dogs
- Updates to the pet owner and our managers via What’s App
- Have a fun personality, interact with our clients!
- Walking outdoors in every weather condition and physically be able to walk for long periods of time ( 5 hours a day).
Basic job requirements:
- MUST have experience handling dogs of all breeds and sizes
- Must be 21-year-old or older, authorized to work and can pass background check.
- Smartphone that is reliable and in good working order
- Must be COVID-vaccinated authorized to work and can pass background check.
- Must genuinely care for all dogs, have understanding and willingness to engage with them, and understand their personalities.
Benefits of working with us:
- You will be paid per appointment/dog walk, not by the hour. ($20-$30/hour average).
- Extra pay for evenings, weekends, and holidays walks.
- Paid training is provided.
- You will have a set day to day schedule and will be the primary caretaker for a group of dogs you would care for the next 9 months.
- Your dog walking route is designated to a small area of the neighborhood (less than 1-1.5 mile radius).
