Ahoy New York Tours and Tasting is seeking passionate, highly energetic, and empathetic people as Tour Guides. Positions are part-time.
Applicants must possess strong leadership abilities, charisma, a wonderful sense of humor, excellent communication skills, a passion for New York City and its food and culture. We conduct on average 6-8 tours per week during the spring, summer and fall seasons. We also operate during the winter months.

Leading a food/walking tour is a combination of quick thinking on your feet, advanced storytelling, and helping navigate groups of 12-13 persons to various locations. We provide you all the training and get you up to speed on the ins and outs of the neighborhoods we tour and their marvelous foods and history.
Candidates do NOT need to have previous culinary experience or a background in NYC history; however, you will need to know the material and do your own research in addition to the training that is provided. Our team of guides are carefully chosen, trained and receive outstanding reviews on Trip Advisor and Google.
WHAT TO KNOW:
Only applicants living within close proximity to the New York City area will be considered. Self-employed individuals and/or flexible schedules preferred. This position will fill the role of one to two tours per week. Applicants MUST be able to work weekendsand have availability at least two days per week. If you do not have a sightseeing guide license (tour guide license) you must obtain one at the end of the training period.
TRAINING:
There will be a thorough training period over the course of three to four weeks. Training is paid.
PAY:
Once hired and trained, Tour Leaders receive an average of $78.00/tour. Including gratuities, most Tour Leaders average between $120.00-$130.00 per tour. All tours are 2-3 hours long, with required tasks pre and post tour, on average the tour and required tasks take 4 hours in total. A Tour Guide never guides more than one tour in a day.

NEXT STEPS:
If we see a good fit, we will email you with information on your interview (date, time, location etc.), what you can expect when we meet, and more details on training and eventual employment. Training will begin in March.
OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION:
You are required to own a mobile phone, have desktop/laptop- based Internet access in your place of residence and check your email at least once per day. Lastly, you must be a NYC licensed tour guide OR willing to obtain a license within one month of hire date (end of training).
