The Gutter Brooklyn is looking for an energetic General Manager with a can do attitude, who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. The Gutter has a full bar, an 8 lane bowling alley, and an event space. We need someone to handle scheduling, ordering, run day to day operations, and who loves to work with their hands. Everyone in our management team is responsible for handling minor lane issues. Our mechanics will train you, but you need to want to learn. Customer service, staff maintenance, front of house experience, and skill with office logistics are expected. The Gutter Bar was founded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2007 with 8 vintage bowling lanes, a small music venue, and a focus on American independent craft beer. Since then we opened our second location in Long Island City, Queens in 2017, and in 2020 the third and largest location opened on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
GM RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Control day-to-day operations
Help maintain the mechanical operation of the lanes
Assist in scheduling shifts and developing the overall team
Manage beer, liquor, merch, COGs
Oversee asset & facility management
Strategize with upper management on promotions & social media
Follow and maintain DOH standards and procedures
Create a positive working environment for all employees
Manage and develop Floor Managers.
Oversee creation and pricing of beer and liquor menus
Oversee management of the event space
GM MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 2 years in high-volume bar/restaurant management
P & L and COGs experience, a history of working with accounting personnel
Must have excellent time management
Team player with a positive attitude and problem-solving skills
Extensive guest service and resolution skills
Excellent verbal, written, and clear communication skills
Excellent computer skills including a knowledge of POS systems, Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and other programs
Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends and holidays
Able to devise plans to meet and exceed goals set by the CEO/CFO
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management, employees and customers
Demonstrate integrity, tact, diplomacy and a commitment to company values
NYC Food Handler Certification required.
Fluency in another language, a plus
Bowling Experience a plus
