Job Description
We are seeking a Market Assistant for our Saturday or Sunday NYC based farmers markets.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a small producer and learn about yogurt, local food systems, gain valuable experience in food sales, and be part of a passionate and dedicated team.
This position is fast-paced and involves driving a commercial van, physically lifting up to 50 lbs, engaging and developing relationships with customers, and honing a mastery of our product and brand.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Interacting with our customers, sampling, and sharing our product offering
Maintaining knowledge of yogurt and how it is made, along with learning about the additional products we produce and sell.
Operating a point of sale system and handling cash
Opening and closing the market: loading and unloading van at warehouse, setting up/breaking down tent setup, safely managing our delicate inventory
Potential growth in delivering product + market kits to additional farmers markets, helping to manage our growing farmers market program, and assisting with demo events
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Experienced with farmers markets, local food systems and interested in sharing our enthusiasm for yogurt and whey
Clean driving record, experience driving commercial vans preferred
Able to work in all weather conditions
Reliable and able to work independently
An excellent communicator, enjoys engaging with customers and answering questions about the business and its products
Is physically able to lift 50 lbs
