Req Number 132526Job DescriptionAssists pathology personnel in retrieval of specimens for analysis. Performs processing, filing and retrieval of slide cassettes or blocks. Cleans/disinfects work area and equipment.Job Responsibility
Picks up and delivers specimens to Pathology.
Receives, sorts and reconciles specimen requisitions.
Follows appropriate handling requirements for specific specimens.
Identifies and documents situations that may adversely impact test performance or reporting of results. Notifies management of situation.
Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of department.
Processes, files and retrieves specimen slide cassettes and blocks.
Maintains department supplies and inventory.
Executes and documents tasks to ensure safe and clean environment.
Maintains documentation of morgue temperature and sanitation schedules, informs supervisor or any discrepancies.
Cleans and disinfects tables, work areas, embedding areas, trays and equipment
Disposes of wet tissue, biohazard, chemical and regular waste from department.
Maintains and changes stainers and tissue processor solutions according to protocol.
Performs related duties, as required.
ADA Essential FunctionsJob Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a hospital setting, required. Laboratory experience, preferred.
Ability to read, write, communicate and understand oral instructions in English.
