About this roleBlackRock’s Investment & Portfolio Solutions (IPS) mission is to bring our clients investable market insights tied to product and portfolio solutions across the full range of public and private markets. The portfolio consulting team is an investment team that specializes in building custom investment solutions using deep investment expertise, cutting edge technology, and market insights. Consultants are client-facing technical professionals who work alongside distribution teams to lead engagements that diagnose client investment challenges and shape solutions. They partner closely with investment strategy, product and portfolio management teams across the business to drive value in client relationships. The team covers institutional client segments such as: asset managers, insurance companies, pensions, endowments, foundations and family offices, as well as the retail advisory segment.Vice President will also be considered for the role.Primary Responsibilities
Partnering with the Sales team to integrate Portfolio Consulting as a key driver of whole-portfolio solutions for predominantly institutional clients.
Responding to client consulting requests by crafting robust portfolio analyses. Types of requests include, but are not limited to, returns-based style analysis, holdings-based risk factor analysis, stress testing evaluations and tracking error optimizations.
Participating in client conference calls by delivering high level of market knowledge and constructing efficient and thoughtful investment solutions to improve engagement and influence with clients, with considerations for the current economic conditions.
Partnering with teams across the firm to leverage best practices, expertise and tools to enhance investment capabilities and create additional capacity.
Co-developing and implementing the channel business strategy including delivery of existing objectives, strategically applying technology to build scale, and embarking on new and innovative initiatives.
Optimally leading and prioritizing client engagements, internal initiatives and business strategy initiatives.
Creating presentations and writing investment papers to effectively communicate insights, strategies, and research to clients and stakeholders.
Continually expanding and deepening investment, portfolio construction, and product suite knowledge base.
Skills & Qualifications
BA/BS in finance, economics, or another related field; MBA a plus.
CFA is highly desirable for this position.
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Strong written communication skills for content strategy creation.
An understanding of ETFs, mutual funds and other investment vehicles.
Knowledge of the private markets and role of alternatives in the portfolio.
Comfort with public speaking and presentation skills.
Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine complex investment product information and determine appropriate response to meet the needs of investment professionals.
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Collaborative individual with strong ethical values.
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills a must. Familiarity with industry software (Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters, MPI, etc.) is a plus.
For New York City and California only the salary range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
