In order to protect our employees and continue to provide safe and reliable service to our communities, as of November 14, 2021 we are requiring all new MTA hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date. Compensation

Salary range:

Computer Spec. (SW) 1 TWU: $90,656 - $98,254

Computer Spec. (SW) 2 TWU: $94,445 - $105,803

Computer Spec. (SW) 3 TWU: $101,991 - $115,061

Computer Spec. (SW) 4 TWU: $109,411 - $131,744

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will perform information technology functions related to design, implementation, enhancement, contract changes and maintenance of Unified Timekeeping System (UTS), MTA Insight Mobile App & TLCS Application and/or related software functions in the Application realm.

Enterprise Application Product Line support includes complex in-house, vendor, and cloud-based systems support for various MTA agencies. The candidate will prepare and coordinate system deliverables for various disciplines such as coding, design, application management, development, testing, implementation, system analysis, troubleshooting and performance tuning of applications. Additional functions include investigate/address time sensitive production issues. The candidate needs to be very well versed in Agile, providing daily standups, ability to create User Story, adhere to a 2/4 week Sprints, and use Jira for the Scrum board, backlog. The candidate will adhere to DevOps processes and work with team of application developers to help coding standards and software development life cycle best practices.

Education and Experience

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in computer science or a related computer field and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time computer software experience in computer systems development and analysis, applications programming, database administration, systems programming, data communications, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of satisfactory full-time computer software experience as described in

"1" above, including one (1) year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to

"1" or

"2" above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in

"2" above on the basis that 60 semester credits from an accredited college is equated to one year of experience. A master's degree in computer science or a related computer field may be substituted for one year of the required experience in

"1" or

"2" above.

However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one (1) year of satisfactory full-time experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.

Note : To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, in addition to the Qualification Requirements stated above, individuals must have one (1) year of satisfactory experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in data administration, database management systems, operating systems, data communications systems, capacity planning, and/or on-line applications programming.

Desired Skills

The candidate must have the ability to recommend modifications and enhancements to existing and proposed systems and technology including
  • Oracle Forms Developer with Forms 12c/11g, Reports 12c/11g/10g, Oracle DB 12c/ 11g.
  • Strong PL/SQL experience, Toad, SQL Developer, Explain Plan
  • Cron Jobs, Scheduler, Schemas and UNIX SHELL Scripting.
  • Also understanding Microsoft power platform that includes dynamics365, power app, power BI, power automate, cloud technologies, mobile functions, web services, C#
  • Javascript, Rest-based API, XML, HTML, CSS
  • Experience in Oracle BI Publisher is plus.

Appointment may be at a comparable level to current level of selected candidate.

As an employee of MTA Headquarters, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $101,379 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
