Our fabrication shop is currently seeking an AutoCAD drafter to join our team.
About the Role
As an AutoCAD Technical drafter, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software and collaborating with clients, the production team, and door installers. This includes translating design concepts into detailed drawings, including:
-Shop drawings
-Fabrication drawings
-Installation instruction drawings
-Landmark Preservation Commission filing sets.
You will follow the established drafting workflow and use existing templates to generate the required technical drawings.
About the role:
- Generate required 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD software.
- Generate 3D models using software such as Sketchup or Rhino.
- Making site visits to obtain accurate measurements to generate shop drawings.
- Making site visits to confirm measurements.
- Organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation.
- Coordinate with production team members to ensure accuracy in drawings and incorporate design changes and updates.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all dimensions are accurate.
- Meet project deadlines and timelines for drawing submissions.
What We’re Looking For:
- A strong mechanical mindset with an eye for detail.
- Strong understanding of masonry and woodworking details.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in design documentation.
- Desire and aptitude to learn the required detailing
- Excellent organizational, time management, and people skills.
- Effective communication skills (including grammar and spelling) and working collaboratively.
- 2+ years of demonstrable experience as an AutoCAD drafter.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling.
- High proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs and Sheets
- Ability to draft quickly and efficiently.
- Strong interest in historical woodwork and masonry details.
- Commitment to personal growth and improvement.
- A go-getter attitude and a willingness to be helpful is essential. We’re a small team looking for team members who enjoy contributing wherever needed, even if it’s outside their usual scope of work.
Position Details
- This position is part-time, Monday-Wednesday, 9 am-5 pm.
- This is an in-person position requiring real-time collaboration with the production team.
- The pay rate is $25-$30/hr, depending on your experience relevant to our fabrication process.
- We offer accrual of PTO days, accrual time for sick days, and paid transit benefits.
- Annual paid holiday shutdown from Christmas to New Year’s Day.
