West Moore Healthcare is a newly launched Healthcare-focused Private Equity firm, having closed our first deal in December 2024.
We are two Blackstone alumni and experienced healthcare entrepreneurs, having founded multiple companies in the space. You will be working closely with us to gain exposure to:
- Active M&A transactions and special situations investments
- Regular interactions with brokers, accountants, and attorneys
- Daily involvement in sourcing, due diligence and negotiations
The externship will involve a hands-on learning experience with many of the core activities involved with running a startup private equity firm, as well as the processes involved with sourcing and screening investment opportunities. In this role, you should expect to develop a fundamental knowledge of the process by which middle market companies are bought and sold. You will also gain a working understanding of the industry participants involved in middle market transactions and the motivating factors driving their behavior.
Your Role:
Primary responsibilities include:
- Researching businesses within a target industry and gathering contact information for intermediaries, advisors, and private company owners
- Outreach to business owners and industry advisors, as well as and marketing to bankers, brokers, and industry advisors
- Helping identify deals that align with our investment strategy
- Managing freelancers and leveraging technology (CRM, sourcing, and outreach tools) to maximize impact
What you won’t do:
- Detailed financial modeling
- Any tasks that you or we think aren’t essential to finding and executing deals or running a private equity firm (you won’t be fetching coffee or dry-cleaning)
Requirements:
- A strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow rapidly
- Practical thinking and the ability to work independently
- Facility with data and data analysis as well as strong writing and verbal skills
- A genuine interest in business and entrepreneurship (you’ll need it to enjoy this role)
- Availability to work at least 10 hours per week in consistent 4+ hours blocks (e.g., Monday-Wednesday, noon-5p ET)
- Ability to work from our office in Flatiron at least once every two weeks.
Compensation:
- Pay / Sponsorship: This is an unpaid externship, though we will ensure that the skills learned can apply to other jobs within the private equity industry. Further - and to the extent possible - we are happy to work with your school to receive academic credit for this externship if your school allows for it.
- Hours per Week: 10-20 hours per week
- Duration: 10-12 weeks
