Compensation: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Finance Associate is responsible for executing day-to-day financial functions and supporting financial reporting and compliance in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role involves general accounting, grant accounting, accounts payable, and fixed asset accounting for the Foundation. The Finance Associate works collaboratively with cross-functional teams including the Office of Grants Management (OGM), Legal, IT, and regional offices. The ideal candidate will bring experience from both public and industry accounting—particularly within the nonprofit sector—and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations
Administer grant-related financial transactions in Salesforce and ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
Process contract invoices through Tipalti for accounts payable and communicate issues to appropriate team members.
Monitor grant and contract expenditures against approved budgets to ensure proper allocation.
Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers including AP, AR, grant payments, and fixed assets.
Collaborate with the Finance Systems Specialist to resolve system integration issues.
Support the Accounting Manager with ERP implementation and other systems-related initiatives.
Assist with ad-hoc projects and inquiries across Finance, OGM, Legal, and regional teams.
Develop a working knowledge of the Foundation’s financial systems and internal processes.
Financial Reporting
Prepare journal entries and financial transactions for general ledger posting.
Collaborate with finance team members to resolve audit findings, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure compliance.
Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance; nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience preferred.
Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Salesforce and Tipalti is a plus.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
