Summary of Role\: This position is for an early career Unix System Administrator located at GlobalFoundries state of the art 300mm wafer fab in Malta. The successful candidate will be responsible for fault isolation on products and IP blocks during the ramp up and sustaining of advanced technology nodes on GlobalFoundries strategic roadmap. The candidate will support System Administration responsibilities for the FAB8 Malta Wafer Test Department in support of its enterprise IT infrastructure and applications; develop new solutions that advance the departments core function; builds, upgrades and maintains the network infrastructure; operates the departments VM cluster; develops disaster recovery and business continuity plans; and participates in infrastructure resource planning, in collaboration with Global IT and local FAB8 Manufacturing. Reporting to the Test Applications Systems Manager the Linux Systems Administrator will perform moderately complex systems administration tasks and serves as a technical resource for the Post Fab Wafer Test Department -Systems, Storage, and Virtualization team. Training and certification opportunities in Redhat Linux, Puppet and Oracle available. Essential Responsibilities include\:
- Administers physical and virtual Red Hat Linux servers, including server deployment, operating system patching, component installation and configuration, and updating packages
- Manages servers in development, testing, and production environments, and web/application/database tiers while adhering to proper change management and security procedures
- Manages the provisioning and deactivation of user accounts and authorizations
- Identify and remedy inefficiencies with systems and procedures
- Develops and maintains systems documentation consistent with industry best practices for systems administration
- Collaborates with members of other divisions within Test/Global IT to facilitate processes, projects, installations and formulation of operating policies and procedures for enterprise applications and networking services
- Job duties require schedule flexibility and willingness to work evening or weekend maintenance windows/outages as required for systems-related tasks
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer System, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant technical degree.
- Language Fluency - Fluent in English Language - written & verbal
- Ability to relocate to Malta, NY

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a global cross functional team environment
- Related IT Certifications in Redhat, AWS, CompTIA, ISACA , Puppet or Oracle are greatly beneficial but not required
