Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Body Shop Painter to join our automotive repair team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and applying paint to vehicles that have been repaired, restoring them to pre-accident condition or better. This role requires strong technical knowledge, a good eye for color and detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare vehicles for painting by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning surfaces.
Mix and match paint to ensure a precise color match using computerized systems and manual methods.
Apply paint using spray guns and other painting equipment in a controlled spray booth environment.
Inspect painted units for quality and consistency, making touch-ups as needed.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Maintain clean and organized work areas and painting equipment.
Collaborate with body technicians and estimators to ensure proper workflow and job accuracy.
Follow all safety protocols, including use of PPE and proper handling of hazardous materials.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED; formal training or certification in automotive painting preferred.
2+ years of experience in automotive painting or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of paint mixing systems, color matching, and paint application techniques.
Experience working with waterborne and/or solvent-based paints.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain high productivity and quality.
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
I-CAR or ASE certification in Refinish Painting.
Familiarity with PPG
Experience in both collision repair and custom paint jobs is a plus.
