We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabinet Painter/Finisher to prepare, finish, and paint wooden cabinetry and millwork to the highest standards of craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in wood finishing, including sanding, staining, sealing, and applying paint or clear coatings using spray equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cabinet surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and masking as required.
Mix and apply stains, sealers, paints, and topcoats using HVLP spray guns or other appropriate equipment.
Match colors and finishes to customer specifications or samples.
Inspect finished products for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Maintain and clean spray equipment, spray booth, and finishing area regularly.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when handling finishes and chemicals.
Collaborate with production and assembly teams to ensure timely completion of orders.
Assist in touch-ups and repairs as needed during or after installation.
Maintain records of materials used and job completion details as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum [1–3] years of experience in cabinet finishing, wood finishing, or related field.
Proficiency with HVLP spray equipment, sanding tools, and finishing techniques.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to mix and match stains/paints to achieve desired finishes.
Knowledge of wood species and how they react to different finishes.
Physical ability to stand, lift, and move cabinets throughout the workday (lift up to 50 lbs).
Familiarity with shop safety procedures and proper handling of chemicals and PPE.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with custom cabinetry or high-end residential millwork.
Familiarity with catalyzed finishes (e.g., conversion varnish, lacquer, polyurethane).
Knowledge of finishing schedules and production workflows.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings or finish schedules.
Work Environment:
Indoor workshop/spray booth environment.
Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals with required safety measures in place.
May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
