A NYC agency located in Long Island City, NY is looking for a Technical Writer for a long term contract.
Candidates should be local and willing to work on site. - 3+ years' experience documenting software for users, developers and policy makers
- Excellent MS tools skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint. Adobe products a plus.
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be a self-starter, give accurate time estimates and meet deadlines.
- Excellent skills in documentation and the requirements solicitation/interview process
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, teaming, written communication, and listening skills
- Must be self-motivated and results-oriented
- Develop and write instructions, policy, and procedure documents in a timely manner (including manuals and bulletins)
- Work with the management team to update/maintain current manuals in the established writing style and templates
- Gather information by conducting interviews with management and subject matter experts
- Compose, maintain, and clarify the Policies and Procedures of SCA IT
- Write a procedure manual, by interviewing staff members and translating it into a clear and understandable instruction set.
- Develop change procedures to maintain policies
- Keep version and history files of work performed
- Cleanup drafts of written communications or Power point presentations.
- The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and producing, in various output formats, technical and functional documentation for policies, procedures, bulletins and application manuals.
- The technical writer will conduct research and interviews to gather information for documentation and act as a liaison for Information Technology to discuss the flow of information, understandability and application of policies to Standard Operating Guidelines.
- The technical writer will make recommendations for change by using discretion and independent judgment to eliminate company risk and legal exposure. He/she will also develop, write and interpret instructions and policy/procedure for the business groups being supported.
- They will maintain and utilize the established writing style for logical and clear documentation.
