Job Description:
This position involves developing, coordinating, facilitating and evaluating activities that build the capacity of teachers, other school staff and community stakeholders to enhance opportunities and environments that promote student, family and community health and well-being. The primary responsibilities of this position include supporting the implementation of the Creating Healthy Schools and Communities initiative and assisting with the facilitation of New York State Education Department required certification coursework. This coursework includes but is not limited to: Child Abuse Identification and Reporting, Dignity for All Students Act and Safe Schools Against Violence in Education. Travel is required to Genesee Valley BOCES component school districts, regional meetings and statewide professional development.
Job QualificationsQualifications:
Permanent or Professional NYS classroom teaching certification and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Health Education, Physical Education, Family and Consumer Sciences or other NYS classroom teaching certification and health and wellness related experience and expertise.
Background in designing and implementing training and professional development programs that enhance teacher capacity and are consistent with research and best practices.
Understanding of the Coordinated School Health Model and/or the Whole School, Whole community, Whole Child Framework.
Capability to work with and support school and community collaborations and facilitate partnerships.
Ability to learn about and respectfully work with people from all cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status.
Strong technical skills and experience using Zoom, Google applications and software applications such as MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access; understanding of MS Publisher preferred. Experience with online learning is desirable.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
Strong organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
