Job Summary:
The Budtender is the front-line customer service representative of the dispensary. They are responsible for educating customers about cannabis products, guiding them through their purchase decisions, and ensuring compliance with local and state regulations. The ideal candidate is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the cannabis industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in customers in a professional and welcoming manner.
Assist customers in selecting cannabis products based on their needs, preferences, and experience levels.
Explain product types (flower, edibles, tinctures, concentrates, etc.), consumption methods, dosages, and effects.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state laws and store policies regarding cannabis sales.
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash and electronic transactions accurately.
Restock inventory, organize product displays, and maintain cleanliness of the sales floor.
Verify customer identification and medical recommendations (if applicable).
Comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in product training sessions and team meetings.
Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally, escalating to management when necessary.
Qualifications:
Minimum age: [e.g., 21+] per legal requirements.
High School diploma or equivalent (some employers may prefer post-secondary education).
Previous retail, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred.
Knowledge or personal experience with cannabis is highly desirable.
Must pass any required background checks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with state-specific cannabis regulations.
POS system experience (e.g., Treez, Flowhub, Dutchie).
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual communication skills.
Sales experience in regulated industries.
