Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bagel and Bread Baker to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for baking, in particular, artisan yeasted dough, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As a Bagel Baker, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of bagels, ensuring that each one meets our high standards of quality and taste.

Main Responsibilities:

You will work directly with and be trained by the owner and founder of the bagel shop/bakery.

Mix and Prepare Dough: Ensure quality of products meets high standards according to established recipes using accurate measurements and consistency in texture. Monitor dough fermentation process and adjust as needed. Plan the production to determine type and quantity of bagels to produce.

Shape Bagels: Skillfully shape bagels by hand and by using specialized equipment, ensuring uniformity in size, shape, and appearance.

Operation of Equipment: Knowledge using commercial ovens and baking equipment to bake bagels to perfection. Monitor baking times, temperatures, and adjust as necessary to achieve consistent results.

Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on bagels, assessing appearance, texture, and taste. Address any concerns or issues promptly and take corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards.

Recipe Adherence: Follow recipes accurately, ensuring the correct ingredients and proportions are used. Collaborate with the management team to develop new flavors and variations of bagels, adhering to quality standards.

Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies. Place timely orders in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted production.

Sanitation and Cleanliness: Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation practices, including proper food handling, storage, and cleaning of workstations and equipment. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Production Efficiency: Work efficiently to meet daily production goals while maintaining the quality of baked goods. Manage time effectively and organize tasks to maximize productivity.

Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including FOH staff and management, to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of freshly baked goods. Assist in other areas of the bakery as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Minimum two years’ experience as a baker worker in a bagel or bread shop

Secondary school diploma

Early Hours - 5/6am - 12pm (25-30 hours per week)

Strong attention to detail to ensure precise ingredient preparation, adherence to recipes, and consistent quality.

Ability to stand for 4-5 hours, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs/23 kg), and perform repetitive skilled tasks.

Available early mornings and weekends
