METAL SHOP MANAGER – ARGYLE NEW YORK
Adirondack Studios (ADKS) is hiring an experienced Metal Department Manager with a track record of taking ownership and delivering!

The ideal candidate will lead the Argyle Production Metal and Mechanical department in producing metal and mechanical applications, systems, and products. Includes static and dynamic (mechanically driven) products and elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate Metal Shop personnel in the fabrication, finishing and quality control of all products for their safe and timely delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, work calls, work planning, fabrication planning, hands-on fabrication, and ordering material needs, within budget constraints.
-Plan and prepare for all metal shop fabrication needs.
-Attendance of kick off and weekly meetings.
-Assigning staff.
-Collaborating with other departments for workflow needs and efficiencies.
Create and maintain all necessary paperwork such as material trackers, welding performance specifications (WPS), welder certifications and other related documents to meet AWS and client specific General Performance Standards for all metal shop work.
-Maintain departmental budgets, quality, and schedules.
-Mitigate potential cost over-runs in conjunction with production management and or project management.
Additional Responsibilities:
-Understand and follow the work rules stated in the Agreement between ADKS and International Alliance of Theatre Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 524 and ADKS Company Policy.
-Supervise all shop personnel and ensure the efficiency of operations in accordance with company standards.
-Manage shop production, monitor inventory, and enforce safety regulations per company policies.
-Maintain a clean, safe, and uncluttered shop space.
-Manage and maintain departmental tooling.
-Check for accuracy, and report weekly metal department payroll to accounting office by 10AM each Monday.
-Determine and submit job inventory lists to Shipping manager at least 48 hours prior to that job’s load out.
-Evaluate and advise on the equipment and space needs of the metal shop to meet increasing capacity needs.
-Attend and schedule meetings as required to understand and plan for the needs of the work in production to help plan and provide support for the critical path movement of product through the plant.
-Track and report line-item Metal expenses as they appear in each work order.
-Determine Metal material needs for each work order and submit list to purchasing agent or designated production buyer.
-Additional tasks as assigned by Production Management.
-Report Percent complete to Project Management on a weekly basis.
-Travel for work as required.
Collaborative Responsibility:
-To work with creative and technical designers seeking the best approach to building each project. Interface and cooperate with other foremen, managers, and installers as needed to achieve the timely movement and positioning of raw material, as well as partially, and fully completed product in the allotted time for the designated profit.
-Interface with and provide support and information to sales/estimation, accounting, human resources, project management and installation personnel.
Required Skills:
-Demonstrable time management, organization, and communication skills.
-Willingness and ability to engage and motivate.
-Computer proficiency – Microsoft office, excel, word.
-Ability to read construction and assembly documents.

-Estimation experience
Additional Duties:
-Approves all staff time sheets.
-Authorizes and approves all department expenses against established budget.
-Advises production managers and project managers of any deficiencies in product or process.
-Informs Project and Production Managers of all budget and schedule over runs or slippage.
-Authorizes Metal shop staff personal and vacation time.
-Creates weekly call sheets for Metal shop staff.
-Creates SOP documents as required.
-Delegates Second in Charge or leads as required, to ensure successful completion of given tasks or assignments.
-Directs Metal Shop Staff and assignees.
-Directs and supports staff personnel to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
-Enforce company policies.

This position will be stationed out of ADKS headquarters in Argyle New York. Pay Range is $70K – $85K.
