Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Clearance Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for contacting medical facilities to obtain necessary medical clearances and documents for patients undergoing procedures or treatments within our ambulatory surgery center. Duties and Responsibilities

Initiate contact with medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and physician offices, to request medical clearances and documents for patients scheduled for procedures or treatments within our organization.

Verify the accuracy and completeness of medical clearances obtained, ensuring that all required information and documentation are provided in a timely manner.

Maintain regular communication with medical facilities to track the status of requested clearances and documents, following up as needed to expedite the process and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

Maintain organized records of all communication and documentation related to medical clearances, ensuring compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations, such as HIPAA.

Collaborate with clinical teams within our organization to ensure that all necessary medical clearances and documents are obtained prior to scheduled procedures or treatments, facilitating seamless patient care.

Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring that their medical history and clearance information are accurately obtained and communicated to healthcare providers to support safe and effective care delivery.

Participate in quality assurance activities related to the medical clearance process, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Review medical clearances and documents obtained for completeness and accuracy, flagging any discrepancies or concerns for further review and resolution.

Calling patients with their surgical arrival time as needed

Evolve in your role when performing supplemental responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus three years related experience; or Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field plus two years related experience.

Previous experience in a healthcare administrative role, preferably involving coordination of medical clearances or documentation.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with medical professionals and patients.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.

Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.

Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
