Practice Manager - Urgent Care

Priority 1 Urgent Care is an independent, locally owned and operated physician-led acute medical care practice serving the greater Capital Region with fast, friendly, and expert medical care. We currently see over 8,000 patients annually with an expectation to grow. We are committed to delivering a 5-star experience to each of our patients at every visit. We are currently seeking a dynamic Practice Manager to lead our team and help us shape the future of health care in our community.

About the Role

The Practice Manager will oversee daily operations and strategic development of our urgent care practice, supporting a team of full-time and per diem staff, including physicians, registered nurses, radiologic technologists, and medical assistants. This is a hands-on leadership role involving operational oversight, financial management, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance. You’ll work directly with ownership and the executive team to optimize performance and ensure an outstanding patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day clinic operations to ensure efficiency and quality of care

- Supervise front desk, clinical support staff, and provider schedules

- Oversee revenue cycle tasks including billing follow-up, collections, payer coordination and contracting, and provider and practice credentialing

- Track financial performance, operating expenses, and staffing ratios

- Recruit, onboard, schedule, and evaluate staff and provider performance, staying keenly focused on enhancing our human resources and organizational culture

- Ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, NYS DOH) and safety standards

- Respond to patient concerns

- Collaborate on marketing and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

- Minimum 10 years healthcare experience, preferably in an urgent care or hospital environment, with a demonstrable progression in management/leadership roles.

- Strong organizational and fiscal management skills and attention to detail with experience in budgeting and financial oversight, and very comfortable with leadership, communications, and multitasking.

- Working knowledge of outpatient billing, compliance, and clinical operations.

- Familiarity with healthcare software and patient experience applications, electronic medical records and practice management systems.

- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to effectively lead a diverse team.

Schedule

- Full-time, primarily weekday business hours with some flexibility as needed.

- Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday availability for coverage or oversight.
