Experienced Chef Needed
We are looking for a Chef to help lead our kitchen. We are an established restaurant and bar serving upscale American fare such as premium steaks, fresh seafood, market vegetables. Relevant experience in this style of cuisine is required.
You will work at the direction of the Owner and be involved in all aspects of running the kitchen. You will be responsible for upholding our standards, and level of consistency and working on improving them. You will be involved in product sourcing, kitchen scheduling, ordering and inventory. Attention to detail, cleanliness, a level-headed attitude, and a strong commitment to kitchen organization and quality are very important. You should be a fast worker, quick thinker and problem solver. You should be comfortable leading and motivating a kitchen team.
The primary duties of this position are
to oversee service, cooking and expediting from the line if necessary
supervise and assist in the production of all our kitchen mise en place
maintain the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, walk in and storerooms
responsible for maintaining food and labor costs
ordering and inventory
build, train and coach a winning crew
You must have at least 3 years previous as a chef. A culinary school background is preferred. You need to have a strong work ethic and understand a sense of urgency. You must be comfortable working under pressure. This is a working chef’s job. You will be on the line and in the kitchen, not in the office.
