Department/Unit:Neuroscience & Experimental TherapeuticWork Shift:Day (United States of America)Job DescriptionThe Myelin Laboratory, led by Drs. Sophie Belin and Yannick Poitelon in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Albany Medical College, Albany NY, is accepting applications for a NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship position. The position ideally starts as soon as possible, but some flexibility is possible. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and productive team aimed at investigating myelin formation, peripheral neuropathies, and neurodegenerative diseases.Responsibilities

Conduct laboratory research in translational neuroscience projects

Design and perform experiments; collect and analyze data

Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals

Engage in scientific communication at conferences and training of junior lab members

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in molecular/cellular/neurobiology, genetics, biochemistry or a related field.

Strong publication record, as documented by first-author publications (submitted, in press, or published) in English language peer-reviewed journals.

Practical experience with standard molecular/cellular biological techniques including DNA and RNA isolation, gel electrophoresis and in protein techniques including Western blotting, immunofluorescence and immunoprecipitations.

Prior experience with performance of tissue culture driven experiments or prior experience with rodent husbandry

Good interpersonal and communication skills, good record keeping and computer skills.

Willing and capable of doing oral and written presentations of experimental results.
