I’m looking for a hair stylist in the Santa Fe area who would be willing to help a male Santa Fean (myself) with the fitting and cutting of a men’s “hair system.” A hair system is what we used to refer to as a “toupee”. That is, replacement hair for those who have lost a substantial amount of their natural hair growth and want to restore their hair appearance. I would hire you privately. We can work at a salon you are associated with or in the home. I am mostly looking for someone who can cut and blend the system with my natural hair and create a convincing appearance. It is not a lot different than a normal men’s haircut, but many stylists are intimidated by it. The systems that I use are high quality human hair knotted into a sheer lace. If presented properly this type can be indistinguishable from natural hair growth.
You can be experienced in men’s hair systems or you can simply be experienced in men’s hair styling and want to expand your skills. There are more men than you think who are convincingly “wearing” systems around town so I think a stylist with this additional skill would be valuable.
In summary, I am looking to “collaborate” with a stylist on this project. I will share what I am looking for aesthetically and you contribute your expertise and we move forward with that. I am willing to negotiate a fair and generous fee structure for the right candidate. Of course this is not a one time collaboration and there would be ongoing repeat business. This may be a good opportunity for a young stylist who wants to become more independent, but any established and open minded stylist can be considered.
