Please read the entire job description before applying if you would like to be considered.

I’m a professional artist in my 40s, experiencing a set of rare chronic illnesses which require daily support. While I am relatively self-sufficient in many ways, the growing complexity of my circumstances has prompted us to expand our small team of dedicated assistants/caregivers.

We are currently seeking one or more highly competent, compassionate individuals to provide long-term, reliable support across a wide variety of tasks— from medical and administrative work to caregiving and life maintenance.

If you are extremely organized with a keen attention to detail, possess the ability to think critically and strategically, and can easily juggle multiple priorities while remaining centered and calm, this job will put your skills to meaningful use.

Our small, diverse team is comprised of kind and talented individuals who are passionate about what they do. We value clear communication, healthy boundaries, flexibility, and creativity coupled with precision.

This is a unique position. It’s not just an administrative role; it’s about remaining present and engaged in a dynamic, ever-changing, and sometimes stressful environment while caring for the wellbeing of yourself, another, and our team. The ideal candidate understands that adaptability and diligence are crucial when lives are in the balance, and that care for the collective is essential to individual success.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Support - Manage various office tasks, such as; managing email inboxes, calls and scheduling, tracking supplies and finances (via spreadsheets, etc), online ordering, and more.

Caregiving Tasks - Offer compassionate, grounded support, including but not limited to; errands, light housekeeping duties like laundry and tidying, heavy lifting (water jugs, packages, etc), and helping care for a very sweet 25lb dog.

Medical Advocacy & Support - Coordinate medical care and advocate for my needs by updating medical documents, communicating with doctors, providing transportation and support for doctor’s appointments (via my car), and more.

Project Assistance - Provide support for personal and professional projects, including but not limited to; assistance with artistic work, research projects, organization, and managing timelines.

Work Schedule & Logistics:

Shift: 8-10hrs per day, beginning around noon.

Hours/Days: 24-40 hours over 3-5 days per week, preferably consecutive (e.g., Sunday-Wednesday). A regular schedule will be established before hiring, based on your and the team’s needs/desires.

Trial Period: There is a mandatory 30hr trial and preliminary training period, paid at $20/hr to ensure a good fit for both parties.

Pay: Upon successful completion of the trial period, you will transition to the full hourly rate of $30/hr. Starting pay is non-negotiable, though there are opportunities for raises/promotions. Employees must complete a W-4 and are paid bi-weekly via ADP.

Location: The job primarily takes place between an office space (off St. Francis/Rodeo) and my residence (near Harry’s Roadhouse). Errands are part of the job; mileage is reimbursed at the standard national rate ($0.67/mi).

Things to Consider:

Sensitivity Accommodation: I have extreme chemical, electrical, and noise sensitivities. This means using nontoxic, unscented laundry and other personal products, and turning electronics off (or in airplane mode) while around me.

Flexibility: Flexibility is important, as the role requires availability for potential coverage for other team members in case of emergencies or planned time off. The same flexibility for time off will be afforded to you.

Out-of-Area Candidates: If you are considering relocating to Santa Fe, you are welcome to apply but must cover travel expenses for the interview and trial period with no guarantee of employment.

Fine Print:

You must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and live locally (or be able to relocate at your own expense)

Professional references, a background check, and a signed nondisclosure agreement are required

Use of A.I. for application, writing materials, and/or work tasks is not permitted

TO APPLY:

The following are requirements for consideration. Please send a resume AND a position-specific cover letter. In your cover letter, please tell us why you're interested in the job, highlight your qualifications, and mention your experience with Microsoft Suite and any additional relevant software. Please also include your availability and ideal schedule.

Thank you!
