JOB TITLE:
Merchandise Handler
REPORTS TO:
Merchandise Manager
DEPARTMENT:
Receiving
JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure the steady and efficient movement of merchandise onto the sales floor and off the sales floor, and to repair merchandise for delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive, inspect and tag merchandise coming to the floor.
2. Uncarton and prepare merchandise for display.
3. Coordinate with management and display personnel the location for new merchandise.
4. Locate and pull sold goods, maintain sold goods area and keep sold goods current.
5. Maintain neat and uniform appearance of staging and back stock areas.
6. Purge sold goods area.
7. Perform general clean-up duties (compacting boxes, sweeping warehouse, etc.)
8. Perform minor touch-ups on furniture.
9. Assemble furniture.
10. Tag sold items properly.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Ability to work well with others. Ability to follow instructions. Good with numbers (memory). Mechanical aptitude. Able to lift heavy objects
