Part-time Early Childhood Afterschool Lead Teacher & Classroom Assistant

Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences, an Expeditionary Learning School and Reggio Emilia inspired Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten is seeking an aftercare lead teacher who also assists in the Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten Unicorn classroom for the 2025-2026 school year.

The successful candidate will understand the developmental needs of early childhood students and bring their expertise and passion for teaching to the classroom. They will model and promote the school’s character traits of compassion, courage, respect, trust, honesty and stewardship. Our school upholds the values of diversity and inclusivity and the successful candidate is able to create a safe and nurturing learning environment in which all students are respected. Developing a deep understanding of our early childhood learning philosophy and committing to the academic and social/emotional growth of students is essential.

The candidate will be the lead teacher for the afterschool Preschool-Kindergarten program and assist in general classroom functions and curriculum. This includes supporting children’s social and emotional development. The teacher will work with a strong early childhood team and support the curriculum throughout the early childhood grades (Preschool-K).

Qualifications and Attributes

An Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Early Education from an accredited college or university, or enrolled in an Early Childhood certification program

Ability to work collaboratively

Positive attitude and adaptability

Creative spirit

Previous experience working with children at the early childhood level preferred

Commitment to diversity and inclusivity

Strong work ethic and professional responsibility

Willingness to learn and improve professionally

Sound judgment and emotional maturity

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Create, maintain and promote a safe, nurturing learning environment that responds to students’ academic, social, and emotional growth

Support direct instruction, discussion, projects, and cooperative work to engage all students, keep classes focused, and infuse a lasting desire to learn

Plan and implement the afterschool program for Preschool-Kindergarten students

Support classroom teachers in developing student portfolios in accordance with school standards and philosophy

Communicate effectively, clearly, and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues
